Entities in East Hartford, East Windsor, Hartford & Windsor Locks Respond to RFP

(HARTFORD, CT) – MMCT Venture, the company formed by the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes, today announced that they have received 5 proposals in response to the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the new facility that will be located in the Hartford region.  Entities in East Hartford, East Windsor, Hartford and Windsor Locks have expressed an interest in being part of the effort to save jobs and revenue in Connecticut.

“This process began to preserve thousands of jobs and millions in revenue which will leave CT, the loss of which MGM has repeatedly acknowledged is necessary to make their project in Springfield a success.,” said Kevin Brown, Chairman of the Mohegan Tribal Council.  “As members of communities with deep ties to this state, we’re simply not going to let that happen without a fight.  With this phase complete, we can now begin to engage interested parties and save Connecticut jobs.”

“The response we’ve received since releasing the RFP has been overwhelming,” said Rodney Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council.  “Our mission hasn’t changed.  We want this new facility to be located in a community that wants us there and values the jobs and revenue we’ll bring.  Our next step is to assess which options present the best path forward.”

Pearce Real Estate, a Connecticut based real estate company administered the RFP.  Evaluation of the proposals will begin immediately.

“We’re gratified that so many have already engaged in this process,” said Barbara Pearce, CEO of Pearce Real Estate.  “We’ll begin an immediate review of the proposals to determine which best meet our shared objectives.”

Pearce’s review will build on the parameters that were set when the RFP was released, including each entity’s ability and willingness to work with municipalities, landowners, developers, labor and other stakeholders to complete the project quickly and efficiently.

MMCT aims to make a selection by December 15, 2015.
